Szekely Engine Startup Add Video

Phil Michmerhuizen demonstrates his 1931 Szekely airplane engine at the EAA Chapter 211 Picnic, Grand Haven, Michigan, August 22, 2009.

Note at the beginning of the video, right after Phil starts the engine, it looks like he removes a battery jumper cable from his pants.  This was part of Phil's act.  Phil, was quite the character.  It isn't clear from the video, but the jumper cable allegedly had something to do with making the engine start. After a couple of failed attempts, Phil, knowing the engine was ready to fire up on the next pull, would attach the jumper cable to his belt or his back pocket for a little something extra.

Phill was a showman, and a really great guy.  He will be missed.
