NASA's Greased Lightning 10-Engine Hybrid Electric VTOL Drone Add Video

Published on YouTube, Nov 30, 2015 Engineers at NASA's Langley Research Center have developed a battery-powered drone that has 10 engines and can take off like a helicopter and fly efficiently like an aircraft. The prototype, called Greased Lightning because it can run on any heavy fuels (even fryer grease) just completed a successful aerial transition from a hover to traditional flight mode and back. The initial thought was to develop a 20-foot wingspan aircraft powered by hybrid diesel/electric engines, but the team started with smaller versions for testing, built by rapid prototyping.
